FADS

A FAD is something that a high proportion of people experience. They do not come back and they are not always practical. There are many varieties of FADS that people go through including fashion items, accessories, hairstyles, footwear, types of games, home ware and food.
I found this image online of a FAD where people had there nails done to look like claws. In this image, 4 different designs are shown but there are lots of different ones that girls would have done when this was popular. You can also see how small diamonds/gems were added to the nails to make them 3D. As this became more and more popular, 3D bows, hearts and other shapes were also available to have on your nails.
